Some important destinations of Palace of Wheels

Jaipur
JaipurJaipur, a well planned city of the world is the first stop of the Palace on Wheels .Founded by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh IInd, this capital city of Rajasthan is popularly known as the pink city on account of the pink colour of the buildings on the main streets & bazars. An A.C. luxury coach takes you to Hawa Mahal, followed by a stop at Amber Fort 8 Kms from Jaipur. After lunch you are off to City Palace , home of the erstwhile royal family and the Jantar Mantar, the largest observatory built by Sawai Jai Singh. After dinner and a cultural programme at Nahargarh Fort, the luxury coach takes you back to the Palace on Wheels .

Chittorgarh & Udaipur
Next morning, the day starts with a visit to Chittorgarh followed by Udaipur, the city of lakes. The two most enchanting spots are Jag Nivas and Jag Mandir, the marble palaces that seem to float in the middle of Lake Pichola. After lunch the coach takes you to the City Palace followed by visit to Sahelion ki Bari or the Garden of the Maids of Honour famous for its spectacular lawns, fountains and shady walks. After evening tea, the luxury coach returns to the Palace on Wheels at Chittorgarh.

Sawai Madhopur
Founded by Maharaja Sawai Madho Singh I, in 1765. It is the entry point of the well known Ranthambore National Park, one of the original areas under Project Tiger. Breakfast is followed by a visit to the Park, considered to be one of the best in the country for observing and photographing the activities of the tiger. Spread over an area of 392 sq. kms. of thick forest with lush vegetation and waterfalls, the park is abode of more than 300 species than 300 species of birds including some rare birds. The carnivorous population includes hyena, ratel jackal and fox. Return to Palace on Wheels and depart for the desert city Jaisalmer. Lunch and dinner are served on board.

Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer, located in the heart of the Thar desert is a marvel of intricate architecture. It was founded by Rawal Jaisal in 1156. The fort is a splendid sight with its yellow sandstone walls and bastions that seems to rise from the golden sands. Next visit the intricately latticed havelis - Nathmalji-ki- haveli, Patwan-ki-haveli and Salim Singh-ki-haveli. After lunch have experience of a Camel ride on the golden Sam sand dunes to get a feel of desert life, followed by the evening tea. The Palace on Wheels departs for Jodhpur at night.

Jodhpur
JodhpurNext morning, the Palace on Wheels arrives in Jodhpur, is surrounded by the high stone wall with seven magnificent gates and countless bastions and impregnable Meherangarh Fort which houses some luxurious palaces like Moti Mahal, Sheesh Mahal, Phool Mahal, Sileh Khana and Daulat Khana. Close to the fort is the Jaswant Thada, built in white marble. After lunch depart to the Palace on Wheels. Tea and dinner are served on board.

Bharatpur & Agra
Arrive early morning in Bharatpur. Visit Keoladeo Ghana National Park- a birds paradise. It is the nesting ground of thousands of egrets, Siberian cranes, migratory water fowl and other birds. After breakfast, visit to Fatehpur Sikri, built in red sandstone. Within the precints is a mosque built by Akbar to perpetuate the memory of Sheikh Salim Chisti, the muslim saint who blessed him with a son. After lunch visit the Taj mahal one of the seven wonders of the world, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his wife. Next, visit the majestic Red Fort built by three great Mughal emperors- Akbar, Jahangir and Shah Jahan.
